Sonali Kolhatkar

Sonali Kolhatkar is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and writer, and the host and executive producer of a long-running TV/radio show, Rising Up With Sonali. Her writings have been published in The Nation, Los Angeles Times, Salon and more. Her nonfiction books include Rising Up: The Power of Narrative in Pursuing Racial Justice (City Lights, 2023) and Talking About Abolition: A Police-Free World is Possible (2025, Seven Stories). She was awarded a Hedgebrook residency in 2024 and her short story “Mythic Muse” won third place at the Empyrean Literary Magazine’s Winter 2025 fiction contest. Her debut novel, Queen of Aarohi, is forthcoming in 2027 by Red Hen Press, and she is a 2026 Pushcart Prize nominee.
