What the Dena Has for Dinner, and Why
Mona Holmes is a longtime editor for Eater Los Angeles and a regular contributor to KCRW’s radio shows Greater LA and Good Food, where she discusses the latest restaurant news. She was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2022.
Since 2015, Mona’s food career has earned her a James Beard Award nomination for the Jonathan Gold Local Voice Award and a respected role as a restaurant writer. Since 2017, she has expanded Eater’s coverage to include legislation, trends, gentrification, restaurant influencers, increased coverage of LA’s Black and Latino restaurants, street food vendors, nightlife, dining pop-ups, overlooked restaurant communities, and the multitude of stories embedded throughout the region. In 2005, she also launched a website dedicated to women artists in music called Shejay.
Los Angeles’s prominent public radio station KCRW recruited Mona in 2019 as a contributor, where she appears on the following shows to discuss subjects related to restaurants and hospitality: Press Play, All Things Considered, and Good Food. She also produced for National Public Radio’s talk show and KPCC. In 2022, Mona guest-hosted an episode of KCRW’s now-defunct show Greater LA.
