Organizing for Good: A People’s Guide for Action, May 1 6:30 - 7:30pm

Marcus Renner’s career interweaves cultural organizing, community and environmental education, sustainability, writing, and the arts. His community-based play The Washing of the Water on Hahamongna Watershed Park was featured by Caltech Theater Arts Play Reading series and was the culmination of his MFA program from the University of California-Riverside. His PhD in geography from UC Davis  resulted in the creation of Arroyo Seco Placekeepers, a community-based initiative focused on cultural planning, public storytelling, and site-specific projects that cultivate lasting joy in both human and nonhuman communities. He was the coordinator of the original ArroyoFest, which shut down the Historic Arroyo Seco Parkway (aka Pasadena Freeway) for a walk, bike ride, and community festival and is currently co-creating the 710 Community Fellows Program, which is ensuring youth voices are part of the planning process for Pasadena's newest neighborhood.
