Dan McCauley

The Kids Are Alright

Dan McCauley is a writer and teacher who grew up in New York City and is based in Los Angeles, California.

Before writing books, Dan exercised his passion for writing in arts festivals and spoken word poetry. Before then, he secretly wrote poems in the back of his 8th-grade algebra notebook.

Raised by little league coaches, a caring Bronx community, and his family's love, Dan pursued his passion for teaching and storytelling at NYU and minored in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. After teaching in the Bronx, Dan moved to Los Angeles, where he continues to teach and coordinate programs. Dan holds a Master's degree in the Art of Teaching and is a member of the Author’s Guild and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Dan has spent more than a decade working with young people.

Whether in classrooms and college residence halls, or spoken word stages and little league baseball fields, the question that continues to inform Dan's work is: what helps young people heal, grow, and thrive?

Dan is the author of the Thank You, World  children’s book series.
